New and Older - Dave Teer

Look this is a mix but so is life.

What is one to say about a little show that presents a number of works spanning many years of activity.

I feel it’s accurate enough to say that each work is a scratch in a wall, a tiny increment of my perceptive experience at life so far.

Yes a bundle of Perceptions, concepts and at times it’s fair enough to say misconceptions.

All these works could ever be, are the simple result of unfolding experiences, understandings and the odd miss understandings.

All meandering along as is my nature to do.

All of them evolving and remaining fluid for a long time, as they naturally move and change with the seasons and the moods of myself and my surrounds.

As with most things the works do all start at a source, take root at a point of origin, always without exception subject to change. Even once they have returned to the studio and beyond the studio again, they are always susceptible to immanent change.

One constant in this particular collective core sample of works is the idea that each one involves the convergence of the heart and the head.

I have always felt the art object is not a thing brought to life by me the individual,it’s more I see it as a collective act of interactions and relationships.

They are reflections on which a narrative, an amalgam of ideas and experiences evolve.

My hope is always that the viewer can see a humanity in the works presented each time. That they might experience a connection with the collective, even with all the challenging complexity that comes with the word humanity.
