MICHAEL & WOLFGANG SAKER
Disorder Gallery is excited to see the return of Michael Saker's wonderful work to our walls. Following on from his 2017 exhibition, his first in nearly 20 years, we are proud to present a selection of brand new works in Michael's signature style, produced with his son and fellow artist Wolfgang Saker.
Though often unrecognised since his career began in the late 70s, Michael's diverse history includes exhibitions of his work throughout Sydney and Australia, large scale murals, book and record cover designs, performance videos and roles as an art critic.
The film ‘Art Ache’, which he wrote and starred in, surrounded by his paintings, was winner of the first Tropfest in 1993. Michael and his no-holds-barred opinions have also been featured on ABC Radio, Channel 10 and in several print interviews including the Sydney Morning Herald and Vogue. In addition, Michael was a set painter for Hollywood blockbusters ‘The Matrix’, ‘Moulin Rouge’ and ‘Dark City’.
Still an underground painter, Michael remains a prolific artist and fixture in the Darlinghurst community. Wolfgang is currently studying at NAS.
Disorder Gallery is an art space that celebrates all forms of creativity, bringing together a mix of mediums, styles and statements all in one environment. We seek out artists whose work makes bold statements and sparks lively conversation, and Michael and Wolfgang's work does exactly that. Join us for the conversation.
Unfortunately, due to the limited capacity of our venue under current regulations, and out of the concern for the health and safety of our guests, we've had to cancel our opening night celebration. However, there are still many different ways for you to enjoy this exhibition!
